Borden: The History of a Kentish parish
This comprehensive history of the parish of Borden in north Kent tells of people making their living from the land for centuries. Growing fruit, especially cherries, was particularly important. The village lies close to the town of Sittingbourne and so Borden folk were never cut off from change and new developments, whether it was brick-making or the effects of traffic and new housing developments.
This history was first published in 1992 while a second, revised edition followed in 2003; both have has long been out of print and so the opportunity has been taken to bring the story fully up to date in this revised 3rd edition.
Helen Allison is an experienced local historian and author whose previous publications include histories of the parishes of Borden, Bredgar, Hollingbourne and Tunstall. She has also written Life in the workhouse', 'The journals of a Victorian lady' and 'Farewell to Kent'!
